Prior to ANZ he has held senior roles, working as Assistant General Counsel at Telecom and working in financial services in London for 10 years, including working for global funds management company Henderson Global Investors.

Andrew Cordner is Director of Legal at Fonterra. In this role, Andrew serves as Fonterra’s General Counsel and leads the highly experienced Fonterra Global Legal Team of 25 lawyers based in New Zealand, Australia, China, Chile, the United States, and Brazil. The team provides legal support to New Zealand’s largest company with diverse international operations and sales into over 140 markets.  Andrew is responsible for driving the strategy, performance and direction of the Global Legal Team, for legal advice provided to the Fonterra Board, management and the various Fonterra business units, and for leading the external relationships of the Legal Team, including with law firms, auditors, and regulators.

Prior to joining Fonterra in 2007, Andrew was a partner at Foley Hoag LLP, a leading US corporate law firm  (with offices in Boston, New York, Washington DC, and Paris) specialising in corporate and commercial advisory work, venture capital, bankruptcy, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, securities law, and international transactions. He has a LL.B (Hons) and B.Com from Canterbury University and an LL.M from Duke University School of Law.  Andrew is currently a member of the NZ Law Society’s National Standards Committee, which investigates and considers complaints that are sufficiently major or complex or of public interest or importance to the NZ legal profession.  When he is not busy lawyering, Andrew can be seen ferrying his three children to and from sports, dance and other events and activities, working on his Northland lifestyle block, trying his best to understand what his wife does as a software engineer for a small software start-up, emulating Roger Federer’s one-handed backhand (poorly), and making awesome birthday cakes.

Brent joined TVNZ in 2009 as General Counsel and Company Secretary, and added Corporate Affairs to his responsibilities in 2012.  He leads a team of 12 covering Legal, Communications, Broadcasting Standards and Strategy functions.

Brent started his career as a litigation lawyer at Wynyard Wood in Auckland, before joining the London office of US firm Weil Gotshal & Manges. He then moved in-house to the British Medical Association where he was responsible for the BMJ Journals division.  On returning to New Zealand he joined Telecom, where he was Senior Counsel, responsible for their media and IP assets.

In 2014 Brent was awarded In-House Counsel of the Year for the Asia-Pacific region.

Brent is based in Auckland, but spends a lot of time in Wellington.  He is married with three children, who keep him and his wife busy with their various extra-curricular activities.  He is a director of TVNZ’s subsidiary companies and Freeview Limited, and a member of the Board of the Grafton United Cricket Club.

Jaya Prasannan is an experienced in-house lawyer with additional expertise in governance. Jaya is currently General Manager – Corporate Services & General Counsel at NZ Compare and S.L.I.C.E. Digital, two Auckland based digital disruptors. She leads a team responsible for legal affairs, finance and human resources functions. Prior to joining NZ Compare and S.L.I.C.E. Digital, Jaya was in-house counsel for a number of large NZ businesses.  Jaya also spent 5 years in private practice and in-house in London, where she is originally from.  She has been admitted as a solicitor in New Zealand, England & Wales and Australia.

In addition, Jaya is the Deputy Chair of the Youth Hostel Association of New Zealand Inc.  Jaya is a member of the Institute of Directors New Zealand through which she has completed additional study in governance and from whom she received the 2019 Emerging Director Award.

Jaya holds a B.A. (Hons) in Natural Sciences & Psychology from the University of Cambridge and subsequently attended Nottingham Law School to complete her postgraduate legal studies. She is currently studying towards an MBA from the University of Auckland.

She is dual qualified to practice law both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

Kristy is currently on the Boards of Hockey New Zealand and the Financial Services Council as well as being an Executive Director of AIA Sovereign Holdings Limited, Sovereign Services Limited, AIA International Holdings Limited and Westside Property Limited.
